The body does not need a detox because it is designed to detoxify itself but your mind does. Your mind needs to be detoxed of all the negative vibes, energy, stress and fatigue it has gathered over time, replacing it with positivity and reinforcing vibes if done correctly.


Mental detoxification is the process of clearing and cleansing the negative, unuseful and unconscious thinking that impacts our mental, physical, emotional and intellectual wellbeing.


This means we have the ability to declutter our minds from negative thinking, impossibility mindset, toxic beliefs, pains, hurts, offences, bitterness and fears of the future.


Are your reactions to people explosive?


Are your creativity prowess blocked?


Are you feeling emotionally constipated?


Are you running wild on negative thoughts?


Are you easily offended by people's behavior?


These five tips will help you detoxify your mind:


1. Practice Mindfulness


Mindfulness has to do with being in the moment; focusing on being intensely aware of what you are sensing and feeling in the moment. Consciously restrict yourself from being lost in thoughts. You can do this by setting aside some time to observe the present moment. Take a seat in a serene environment and breathe. Your thoughts may wander; it's normal. Just be sure to bring it back. Try not to ponder on past events or worry about the future. Your fears will be taken care of, be present in the pure moment!



2. Unfollow, Block and Avoid Those With Negative Vibes


Negative vibes has a way of quenching your zeal, passion and enthusiasm, avoid it at all cost. If my content is bringing you negative vibes, feel free to unfollow me or even block me. Your mental health is very important to me. Guard your time, don't allow yourself to be swayed around by negative people; they can monopolize your time even when they are not around you. Make productive use of your time. Re-channel your thoughts and focus only on the positives because negative people can influence your thoughts. So, pay attention to your thought patterns when you are with negative people.



3. Go on a Tech Break!


Technological tools and gadgets are powerful influencers and have the power to control not just your mind but your entire life. Yes, we have so much to do online and our lives practically revolve around it but hey! You need to take a break from these media platforms and connect to the real world. Break this self-reinforcing patterns by putting off your phones on Sunday or any other day of your choice, going for a walk without your phone, going on a media fast or taking a technology vacation. It comes with so much benefits. Aside helping you to connect with the real world, it will help you to create a balance between other areas of your life, get more work done, improve your self-worth, enjoy life and reduce stress. So, go on a tech break and break that habit!


4. Declutter Your Mobile Contacts


This is simply to help you avoid calling those who don't add value to your life. So bring out your phone and delete those contacts that you rarely call and those who rarely call you. You will get to know those you have in your circle and give space to valuable connections. Removing some contacts on your phone goes beyond the feeling it provides to offering you a sense of belonging with those who truly care.


5. Be Socially Selective


You are called to be friendly with everybody but you are not called to be friends with everybody. Choose your social circle wisely; be mindful of those you connect with or even vent to, they can have impact in your life. You are not for everybody and everybody is not for you.
